The Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program is a permanent immigration program that allows high-skilled candidates with work experience to apply for a visa in order to contribute to Quebec’s economy. If a foreigner is interested in moving to Canada and settling in Quebec, this is the main pathway to becoming a permanent resident.
Quebec has a unique position in Canadian immigration surrounding due to its French cultural heritage and language. Based on the candidates’ profiles, language skills, level of education, work experience, and possible ties to Quebec- the selection process takes its way.
The first step in this process for a candidate is to declare his interest in immigrating to Quebec. He can do that through an online application form on the Arrima portal by completing an expression of interest (EOI).
An online form consists of information regarding the candidate’s language proficiency, age, work experience, field of training, and education. This pre-screening process allows the government to rank the best candidates based on their knowledge, working potential, etc.
The second step is when the government invites the top-ranked candidates to apply for permanent immigration. The top-scored candidates in the pool will be asked to apply for permanent selection by the Government of Quebec in regularly held draws. Again, there’s a Mon Projet Quebec portal where candidates can complete and submit an application form for permanent selection.
Once the second step is done, and candidates are successfully issued the Quebec Selection Certificate, they can apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residence.
