Canadian Visitor Visa

Visitor Visa Guide for Canada

Canada welcomes millions of visitors every year. They come to this country to explore its opportunities, see beautiful nature, and visit friends and families. All other visitors require permission to enter Canada except for Canadian citizens and permanent residents. If you want to visit Canada in the foreseeable future, keep reading this guide for visitor visas, also known as Canada Tourist Visa, which will give you basic information on this matter.

What is Canada Visitor Visa?

A visitor visa or Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is an immigration document placed in your passport that allows foreign nationalities to travel to Canada. Whether you’re visiting Canada as a temporary worker, student or traveller, unless you are from a visa-exempt country, you’ll need a visitor visa to enter. Before you apply for this document, check if you need a Canadian visitor visa.

Types of Visitor Visas and Validation Period

There are two types of Canadian visitor visas: single and multiple entry visas. A single-entry visa allows an individual to enter the country only once, and a multiple-entry visa allows holders to enter Canada as often as needed until the visa is valid.

You don’t have to choose which fits you because most applicants are automatically considered for multiple entries, and single-used visas are issued in specific cases.

Most visitors can stay up to 6 months in Canada if they have a multiple-entry visa. However, permits can be valid for up to 10 years, which is something visa officers discuss and make a decision about its validation.

How to Apply for Canada visitor visa?

Applicants who need a Canada visitor visa to enter Canada can apply online, with a paper application or in person. However, there are some basic requirements that an individual should fulfill and documents that one should gather before applying for a tourist visa:

  • A valid travel document (passport),
  • Being in good general health,
  • Have proof of strong ties back home (such as a job, financial assets or family that will back you up when you get back),
  • No criminal or immigration-related conviction,
  • Present proof that you’ll leave Canada at the end of your visit,
  • A letter of invitation from the person inviting you to Canada,
  • Show evidence that you have enough money during your stay.

There may be some other documents and information that the immigration service will need for you. In case you need advice about a tourist visa, we are here for you.
